Popular television actress Charu Asopa is facing an unfortunate predicament in her house hunt in Mumbai. The single mother, who is currently occupied with promoting her new web show Johri, has revealed that she is being denied rental accommodations solely due to her marital status.

Charu shared her disheartening experience in a recent interview with ETimes, disclosing that she has been given an eviction notice from her current residence and is desperately searching for a new home. However, her efforts have been met with rejection, particularly from one particular society that denied her a flat due to the absence of a male member in her family.

The actress recounted the incident, stating, "I was asked who all will be staying, and I told them my daughter, two maids, and I would be residing in the house. So, for them, a mother and daughter are not a complete family. I tried to convince them by saying that my mother also keeps coming over, but they clearly told me, 'Aapke ghar mein koi mard toh nahi hai na' (There's no male member in your family, right?)."

Charu expressed her profound disappointment, revealing that she broke down in tears after the meeting. "I was heartbroken and cried on the sets," she confessed.

For the unversed, Charu had tied the knot with Rajeev Sen, actress Sushmita Sen’s brother. However, the couple parted ways within four years of their marriage. Now, they are co-parenting their only daughter, Ziana.
