Veteran filmmaker Boney Kapoor recently offered a glimpse into his family's challenging journey in the initial years of their film career. In a candid interview with Galatta Plus, Boney revealed the financial hardships they faced and the sacrifices made to navigate those difficult times.

The filmmaker recounted his father, Surinder Kapoor, losing multiple jobs due to his strong advocacy for workers' rights. This eventually led them to Mumbai, where they were taken in by Prithviraj Kapoor, the patriarch of the Kapoor acting dynasty. He also revealed that after his father’s marriage, they lived in the outhouse of Raj Kapoor, where usually servants and drivers lived.

He further recalled, “When my grandmother passed away, Anil and I decided that he will do acting and I will take over the production. Somebody had to run the show at home also. My father had a heart problem, we didn’t want to give him stress.”

Boney further elaborated on the challenges they faced as producers, including the loss of a director during the filming of one of their projects. Despite these setbacks, they persevered and eventually found success in the industry. While discussing financial difficulties, Boney stated, "My father was in debt. We were in a sh**hole."

Coming to the professional front, Boney’s latest production venture, Maidaan, is currently playing in theaters. The Amit Sharma directorial stars Ajay Devgn and Priyamani. Speaking of the business of the film, readers may recall that Bollywood Hungama is constantly sharing updates. The film collected in the range of Rs. 1.25 to 1.50 crores on its fifth day on Monday, taking total collections to Rs. 23.50 crores.
