Actor Bhumi Satish Pednekkar has often spoken about environmental responsibility, and in a recent interaction with The Peacock Magazine, she underlined how small, consistent choices can collectively make a difference. Responding to a question about everyday practices that help her feel she is contributing to the planet, Pednekkar pointed to one clear starting point: eliminating single-use plastic.

“I think the simplest place for anyone to start is by cutting out single-use plastic,” she said. “I’m very conscious of that myself. In my household, we actively avoid using single-use plastic and whatever little does come in, we make sure it’s recycled.”
For the Bhakshak actor, sustainability is rooted in mindful habits rather than sweeping declarations. She emphasised carrying reusable water and avoiding packaged bottles whenever clean drinking water is accessible. “Even though I have my own beverage and water brand, I still prefer bringing water from home,” she noted, adding that the idea is to be intentional about everyday decisions — from saying no to plastic cutlery and straws to steering clear of plastic bags.
Pednekkar also addressed the volume of promotional packaging that actors receive, revealing that she ensures it is responsibly recycled. Beyond recycling, she supports thrifting, vintage shopping and upcycling as conscious alternatives to fast consumption.
She further highlighted India’s design and fashion heritage as an inherently sustainable ecosystem. Drawing a distinction between fast fashion and traditional craft, Pednekkar said India’s textiles, homegrown labels and indigenous craftsmanship represent the true spirit of sustainability. In her view, initiatives like the Make in India movement reinforce that ethos by promoting locally produced goods and traditional artistry.
On the professional front, Pednekkar has been actively promoting her series Daldal, which streams on Amazon Prime Video. The actor also has several projects lined up, including a second season of her Netflix show The Royals on Netflix. Among her upcoming films, one of the most discussed is her collaboration with Imran Khan, marking his return to the screen.
