In 2025, Bhumi Satish Pednekkar’s journey extended well beyond the realm of cinema, marking a significant shift in how the actor has positioned herself on the global stage. While her work on screen continued to generate conversation, it was her expanding presence as a policy-engaged advocate, entrepreneur and climate voice that stood out over the past year.
Bhumi began the year at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, where she participated in multiple discussions around climate action, representation and equitable growth. Addressing global leaders, she stated, “I aim to use my influence for positive change.” Her contribution at Davos was further recognised when Bloomberg honoured her on a platform shared with global leaders including IMF First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath and former Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin.
Notably, Bhumi is the only Indian actress to be part of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders community — a cohort that has previously included figures such as Mark Zuckerberg, Sam Altman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emmanuel Macron, Justin Trudeau and Angela Merkel. She later attended the Young Global Leaders Summit 2025 in Geneva, engaging in conversations around geopolitics, sustainability and global equity.
Further strengthening her commitment to informed leadership, Bhumi completed an executive programme at Harvard Kennedy School focused on leadership and global policy. The programme brought her in dialogue with policymakers and leaders, including former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who joined as guest faculty. On Earth Day, Bhumi reiterated the need for sustained action, saying, “Our planet is at a critical juncture, and time is not on our side,” adding, “The goal isn’t perfection, it’s awareness, consistency, and the courage to act.”
Her advocacy also translated into action on the ground. When floods impacted several Indian states including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Assam and Maharashtra, Bhumi was present in affected regions, particularly Jammu, working directly with communities. Alongside financial contributions, she collaborated with organisations to provide essential supplies, medical aid and long-term livelihood support.
She later carried these experiences to the Milken Institute Summit in Singapore, highlighting India’s climate vulnerability and disaster response needs. Addressing global policymakers and investors, she said, “I’ve partnered with incredible organisations in India doing disaster relief, and we’ve launched a crowdfunding initiative to support these families. It’s about immediate aid, but also about helping people rebuild with dignity.”
At the summit, Bhumi also underlined her identity with clarity and stated, “I wear my nationality like a badge of honour. Being Indian is my first identity. Yes, my bio says actress but it also says climate advocate. That part of my work is just as important.”
In addition to her advocacy, Bhumi expanded her entrepreneurial footprint with Backbay Beverages, while her Netflix series went on to dominate global charts. She also continued her association with global institutions, visiting the WHO and United Nations headquarters in her capacity as a UNDP India Advocate.
As 2025 draws to a close, Bhumi Satish Pednekkar’s evolving role signals a growing intersection of influence, responsibility and global engagement.
