Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, Simar Bhatia, director Sriram Raghavan and producer Dinesh Vijan promoted their much-awaited film Ikkis on the first day of the Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest and India Entertainment Awards 2025. This is the first time that blockbuster producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films worked with Jaideep Ahlawat and both have formed a great bond. A memorable moment was when Dinesh Vijan compared Jaideep Ahlawat to the late Irrfan Khan.
The producer had a great association with Irrfan that began with Hindi Medium (2017). The film was not just a sleeper hit but also a rage among the audience. It prompted the team to come up with Angrezi Medium (2020). Irrfan Khan shot the film after he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer. The fine performer sadly passed away less than two months after Angrezi Medium’s release, which made the comedy drama the final film of his career.
Dinesh Vijan said, “I have had the good fortune of working with Irrfan sir. What he used to manage to do was almost God-given. It was the way he acted; it connected with you deeply. After Irrfan, if I have seen this quality in someone, it's Jaideep.”
Jaideep Ahlawat was quite overwhelmed with the comment while the audience broke into applause.
Dinesh Vijan continued, “I want to selfishly work more with Jaideep Ahlawat because that’s how he essays a character. And Irrfan meant a lot to him. Hopefully, Jaideep and I will do more work and maybe, you’ll make him miss a little less!”
Ikkis releases in cinemas on December 25.
