When Bappi Lahiri took Dr. Dre to court for using ‘Kaliyon Ka Chaman’ without credits and won the case

The disco king of India, Bappi Lahiri who breathed his last on February 15, once sued an American musician Dr. Dre when he copied his song 'Kaliyon Ka Chaman' and he even won the case.

In the year 2003, Bappi Lahiri sued Dr. Dre, an American musician, for copying his song ''Kaliyon Ka Chaman' for his album Addictive. After the case, Dr. Dre gave Bappi Lahiri the credits and he was satisfied.

Bappi Lahiri had his presence in Hollywood as well, he had offers from Jackson Five, Whitney Houston and he gave credit to the iconic disco dancer hits. His songs even inspired International artists like producer Jamie Jones, Welsh DJ, DJ duo The Martinez Brothers.

Bappi Lahiri breathed his last on Wednesday. According to an official statement from the hospital, "Bappi Lahiri was suffering from OSA- Obstructive Sleep Apnea and recurrent chest infection. He was treated by Dr.Deepak Namjoshi. He was hospitalised in Criticare Hospital, Juhu for 29 days with this. He recovered well and was discharged home on 15 February. However, after a day at home, his health again deteriorated and he was brought back to Criticare hospital Juhu in a critical state and succumbed to his illness at about 11.45 pm. He suffered from a Covid infection last year. He had OSA for the last 1 year. He was admitted on multiple occasions to Criticare Hospital under treatment of Dr.Deepak Namjoshi and recovered on all occasions."
