Badshah urges composers to focus on music as streaming platforms have “levelled the field”; says, “Koi bhi gaana hit ho rha hai”

In a series of tweets, shared on March 7, Badshah urged composers to not think about algorithms or codes and focus only on creating music.

In the past few years, the music industry has seen a boom with hip-hop and rap culture becoming prominent. On the other hand, remixes of iconic songs and artists making individual music have also received a positive response. However, there is something, which is unusual for the singer-rapper Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, aka Badshah. Speaking of the same, on March 7, he took to his Twitter handle and highlighted how music has become “democratic” but it is also in a space where people are “trying to crack the algorithms”.

In a series of tweets, Badshah explained that in the rush to “crack” a chartbuster, people are desperate to compose music, which may not necessarily come from an organic place, often forgetting that a good song will always become a hit. He first tweeted, “No one is making music. Everyone is shook. Insecure. Trying to crack the algorithms. Crack codes. Crack sounds. Coz koi bhi gaana hit ho raha hai. Its not necessary to be a big star to have a hit. Music has become extremely democratic. But log ye bhool rahe hain ke…”

In the next tweet, the 37-year-old singer continued and wrote, “ke acha gaana hit hota hi hota hai. Aaj nahi to kal. And that time has come. Streaming has levelled the field. For everyone. F*** videos f*** budgets f*** production. All you need to make is GOOD MUSIC. Dil de dil tak. Back to basics,” followed by red-heart and fire emoticons. He concluded his take with saying, “There is no code no algo no plan. Only music. Real music. No gimmicks. No efforts. Effortless music. Evoke an emotion. Any emotion. F*** chords, touch chords,” in his third tweet.

Speaking of Twitteratis' reaction, it has received a mixed response. While many highlighted the rap and lyrics of Badshah’s songs, a section of them speculated that he is trying to target rapper Emiway Bantai.
