"Fame, for me, was directly linked to the fact that as a child, it caused distance between me and my father," Babil said. He elaborated on how Irrfan's adoring fans would sometimes pull him away during moments of connection. "As a child, even a short moment holding your dad's hand is your entire world," Babil explained, highlighting the potential emotional impact of such interactions. "So, when a bodyguard comes and takes him away because of a crowd, for the child, I think it's very traumatic," he added.

For the unversed, Irrfan Khan passed away on April 29, 2020, in Mumbai due to cancer-related complications.

Beyond the immediate separations, Babil also acknowledged the physical distance created by Irrfan's demanding shooting schedules. "There was physical distance because he was shooting a lot," Babil said, "but he was very affectionate towards me when he was there."

The interview also explored Babil's self-described tendency to please others. He attributed this behaviour, in part, to a feeling of insecurity stemming from those childhood experiences. "The abandonment thing, I think, comes from the fact that I would spend beautiful times with my best friend, Baba, and then he would suddenly vanish for four months of shooting," Babil explained. "As a child, I didn't understand," he added.
