Ayushmann Khurrana talks about Punjabis in his life

Known till date as the proverbial Vicky Donor, Ayushmann Khurranna is entering the 'Dilli zone' all over again with Bewakoofiyaan. The actor, who had played a 'Bombay guy' in his last release Nautanki Saala claims that even though he is wearing a Punjabi garb all over again, his Mohit Chadda act in the Yash Raj offering is entirely different from how he was portrayed as Vicky Arora in the John Abraham production.

On Punjabi characters Vicky and Mohitâ€¦

Their world is entirely different. Vicky was very desi as a Punjabi while Mohit is an urban guy who works in a corporate world. He is much more polished and highly educated when compared to Vicky. In fact, koyi comparison hi nahi hai! Even Delhi has different kinds of Punjabis and I am definitely not repeating the Vicky act.

On Punjabi veterans Annu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor

Both are Punjabis and the chemistry that Annuji and I shared in Vicky Donor was seen by one and all. Now, it is a different kind of interaction that I have with Rishiji in Bewakoofiyaan. He is inarguably country's first natural actor and that's the reason why he is surviving in the industry till now. He can act in his sleep as well. He believes in giving his shot in a single take whereas I need to warm up a little since that's the kind of actor I am. However with him, I had to be fully prepared well in advance.

On his Punjabi producer Aditya Chopraâ€¦

It's in the bucket list of every actor to work with Aditya Chopra and be a part of a Yash Raj film. Moreover, when you get a film with a realistic set up then it's an icing on the cake. Adi believes in my potential and has been constantly pegging me to cover an extra distance and stretch myself, both physically and emotionally. I am glad to have a three film deal with them where I have the right to pick and choose a script.

On his Punjabi heroine Sonam Kapoor

She has this persona of being a fashionista but trust me, she is one girl who gels up with ease once she opens up. There is not a single false moment about her. She says what she feels and there is no pretence whatsoever. I used to think that 'Ok, she is this big Kapoor girl'. However, there was no ice that had to be broken the moment we started working with each other.

On his Punjabi roots, Chandigarh

I have lived in Chandigarh all my life and have been supremely happy with the setting and upbringing. In fact, even now when I am traveling between Mumbai, Haridwar and other cities for my films, my wife continues to stay with my family in Chandigarh. She is doing theatre there and busy in her own life with my son. Thank goodness, as there is no point for them to be in Mumbai when I am not around. I am glad that she is in a much happier secure environment amongst family members there.
