Amid the ongoing discussions, Arun Govil, who is widely associated with portraying Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s classic TV show Ramayan on Doordarshan, shared his thoughts on Kapoor stepping into the iconic role. Govil, who is also part of the upcoming film in the role of King Dashrath, expressed confidence in the actor’s approach.

Arun Govil shared, “As far as Ranbir is concerned, I mean, he is a good actor. He works very hard. He is a very cultured kid, basically, you know. He has a moral culture; I have seen it many times. So, I am very sure about it that he will try to do his level best.”

Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor has previously spoken about his early connection with the story, revealing that his preparation for the role began years ago when he first watched Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan. The experience, according to the actor, played a role in shaping his understanding of the character and influenced his journey toward portraying Lord Ram on screen.

The film features a large ensemble cast, with Sai Pallavi playing Sita, Yash cast as Ravana, Sunny Deol portraying Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey essaying Lakshman. The project is positioned as a large-scale cinematic retelling of the epic, aiming to present the story with contemporary filmmaking techniques.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is produced by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studios, in association with the visual effects company DNEG and Monster Mind Creations.

Planned as a two-part release, Ramayana will arrive in theatres worldwide in IMAX format, with Part 1 scheduled for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 set to release during Diwali 2027.
