Through the past week, Mumbai soaked in the festive flavour as the yearly Ganesh Utsav arrived. While we embraced the celebrations, the recent environmental concerns also demand that we carry out our rituals in an eco-friendly manner. Hence, more and more commoners as well as celebrities are now bringing the green Ganesha, that is, an idol that won’t pollute the environment. One of the prime advocates of an eco-friendly celebration is Arpita Khan.

Arpita, on her Instagram, gave us a glimpse of the Ganesh idol that she brought home while also telling us how even the immersion will be done without disturbing a natural waterbody. “Our Ganeshji is Eco friendly & immersed in a tank in our building garden. Once he dissolves all the crystals are cleared from the water & the water is put into the plants. We do not believe in polluting the ocean so none of our flowers or anything used during the festivities are discarded in the ocean.???? preserve & protect !,” she wrote.
