Anurag Kashyap claims that he was fired from Tere Naam as he did not want Salman Khan to shave his chest : Bollywood News

Anurag Kashyap, the director of Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, revealed that he was fired from the Salman Khan movie Tere Naam years ago. He also discussed some of his favourite Salman Khan movies. In a recent interview, Anurag remembered the circumstances behind his dismissal from Tere Naam. Satish Kaushik eventually took over as the film's director. Salman's Tere Naam character, Radhe, comes from Uttar Pradesh, where it is believed that guys don't wax their chest. Therefore, Anurag requested that Salman refrain from shaving his chest for the role.

Anurag recently stated in an interview with Unfiltered by Samdish, “I was thrown out of a film because I asked the hero to not wax his chest." When he was asked which film, Anurag said, “Tere Naam”. He further narrated why he asked Salman to grow chest hair, and said, "Arrey Agra-Mathura ki film thi, wahan aise thoda hee hota hai (The film was based in Agra-Mathura, where men don't wax their chest)."

Salman, a superstar with a reputation to uphold in the eyes of his followers, disagreed with Anurag's suggestion. Anurag was abruptly fired from the movie once the film's producer learned how he advised Salman not to shave his chest.

Anurag, however, is remorseless. He admitted to admiring movies like Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Dabangg to YouTuber Samdish Bhatia. In fact, Abhinav Kashyap, the brother of Anurag, helmed Dabangg, which introduced Salman as the cop Chulbul Pandey.

Director Satish Kaushik discussed a remake of Tere Naam and compared it with Kabir Singh (2019) in an interview with The Indian Express last year. He had said, “We’ll definitely need to adapt with the times. Making the same film and getting the same performance out of Salman will be difficult. Salman always said the film is good and will definitely work. But the character gives the wrong message in it. There was a debate on Kabir Singh too. Kabir Singh was an adapted copy of Tere Naam.”
