It is a known fact that Animal, despite all the restrictions and ‘A’ rating, has been doing some blockbuster business at the box office. The film has found love from audience but at the same time, there is a section of them who have expressed their disappointment, calling out the filmmaker for his portrayal of characters who are misogynistic and violent in nature. In one such tweet where a user was lashing out at Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the former asked if the filmmaker needs psychiatric help, to which Vanga had an interesting response.
In an interview with trade analyst Komal Nahta, as the duo discussed about the aftermath of Animal, the former read out an interesting tweet where one of the users suggested that ‘Sandeep Reddy Vanga should be taking psychiatric help’. To the same, the filmmaker responded, “He needs to go to the psychiatrist. Because he needs to understand that this is not what I am doing in real life, this is cinema, this is art, this is expression. I will make a few scenes uncomfortable, that’s the quality of the film, that’s the quality of art. It will upset you, it will provoke you, it will irritate you. If I do it in real life, if I take a rifle and barge into a reviewers office, that time you can tell me to consult a psychiatrist.”
In the same interview, Vanga also addressed the issues of the violence in the film wherein he asserted that the film which we are viewing is a diluted version because he wanted to create a film that suits the sensibilities of the Indian audience.
Speaking of Animal, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role of Ranvijay Singh with Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol essaying pivotal characters. The film also features an ensemble supporting cast and released on December 1 in multiple languages.
