A few weeks back, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor started trending on various social media platforms after a US-based bodybuilder re-shared a collage. For the unversed, the collage featured Kapoor and the bodybuilder, John Effer. The striking similarities between the duo left the netizens surprised. Since then, Anil Kapoor’s doppelganger is receiving a lot of attention on social media.
Recently, the fitness coach spoke to Official Humans Of Bombay and opened up about the same. He explained that until an Indian fan sent him the image of Anil Kapoor, he did not believe that there were at least seven people on the planet who looked exactly the same. He exclaimed, “And looking at Anil Kapoor’s picture for the 1st time, I was taken aback; our resemblance was uncanny!”
John further explained how he was exposed to Bollywood at a young age by his parents, who appreciate teaching and learning about various cultures. While calling Bollywood movies “a lovely escape”, he said, “I grew up watching SRK & Hrithik Roshan’s movies & found myself relating to Hrithik Roshan’s character from ‘Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai’ when he sees the picture of a man who looks exactly like him.”

Revealing what happened after he re-shared the collage, the bodybuilder said, “My Instagram account didn’t stop buzzing with notifications; people commented— ‘Bodybuilder Anil Kapoor!’ Some people mistook me for being the real Anil Kapoor & praised me for my acting! I was overwhelmed with the messages I received but frankly, I find it unimaginable to fathom what Anil Kapoor goes through on a daily basis with the spotlight on him every second.”
While sharing that he and his girlfriend have a ball dancing to Kapoor’s popular song ‘My Name Is Lakhan’, he mentioned that it would be a dream come true for him to act in a Bollywood film. He then gave a suggestion and asserted, “I feel Bollywood must make a ‘Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai; Part 2’ with Anil Kapoor & I.”
As Effer concluded, he added, “I don’t know if I’ll ever meet him down the road, but in a way, I feel I know him already, and now I only have one desire — to live a life as jhakaas as his!”
