Back in 2007, Amitabh Bachchan’s status was questioned not as an actor, but as a farmer. The farmers of U.P. protested that Big B was neither a farmer nor a resident of Barabanki where he owns 70,000 sq feet of land.
The Faizabad court overruled the case back then and Big B himself has proven now how much of a farmer he is at heart. In fact he recently even took time off to visit his land in Uttar Pradesh.
After having registered himself as a seedgrower with UP Seed Development Corporation (UPSDC), a public sector undertaking to enhance farm output in Uttar Pradesh, he did go all the way to toil in his fields to do just that. His actual reason to come to Lucknow was to be part of a wedding as he tweeted, “In Lucknow for a wedding.Visited my farm .. and .. plowed my land .. drove my tractor, which digs and levels before sowing ..”
The actor was accompanied by wife Jaya Bachchan and together they toured their six hectare agricultural land in Muzaffarnagar village of Lucknow district. The land has three accounts where Amitabh owns 2.5 hectares, Abhishek 1.2 hectares and Jaya Bachchan 2.4 hectares.
The actor rode a tractor, levelled the field before he proceeded with the sowing. He took immense pleasure in this activity and tweeted about it as he said, “Feeling my earth, the soil that gives us the crop .. working the machines that sow seed and fertiliser automatically ..joy boundless.”
Amongst all the city dwellers that probably have no idea about the actual effect of rains on the fields and the agricultural output, this actor cum farmer was immensely upset about the untimely rain. He tweeted, “Unseasonal rain has caused problems for the tilling and sowing the wheat crop .. if it rains any more, entire crop shall be destroyed.”
Just like he has won the hearts of many with his performance on the big screen, Big B is soon going to win the hearts of many with his farming capabilities as well it seems.
