A day after the passing of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, actor Amitabh Bachchan shared a deeply emotional obituary note on his blog, repeatedly expressing his sense of “immense grief” while remembering her lasting contribution to music.
In his tribute, Amitabh wrote, “Sorrow and grief... An entire era... an incredible... a phenomenal, astounding, prodigious presence... lost yesterday... the iconic, legendary Asha Bhosle ji has left us...”
He further reflected on the legacy she leaves behind through her music. “In immense grief... Her versatility in giving life to every song she gave voice to... gone to the heavens... and has left us an entire encyclopedia of eternal music… The body has left us... but her soul shall remain forever with us... Her voice the soul shall ever be immortalised... In immense grief.”
Tributes to the singer have continued to pour in from across the worlds of music, cinema, politics and sports following her demise.
Her mortal remains were brought to her residence in Lower Parel on Sunday evening, where members of the public were allowed to pay their last respects from 11 am to 3 pm on Monday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is expected to attend the funeral at Shivaji Park, where the last rites are being conducted with full state honours.
Several prominent personalities visited her residence to offer condolences, including Sachin Tendulkar along with Anjali Tendulkar, as well as Tabu, Asha Parekh and Anuradha Padwal, who paid their respects to the late singer as the nation continues to mourn her loss.
