In the video, the actor said that his director, Raj Mehta suggested that he take the metro as the map on his phone showed heavy traffic on the road. The actor also said that the Metro is very convenient and it takes only 20 minutes for him to reach his destination as opposed to the 2 hours journey by road. The Mission Mangal star also pointed out that since the Metro is the only public transport which is at an elevation, it would not be affected by water-logging.

Sharing the video, he wrote, “Metro ride. My ride for today, the Mumbai metro...travelled ##LikeABoss from Ghatkopar to Versova beating peak hours traffic”

This post by actor Akshay Kumar comes a day after actor Amitabh Bachchan tweeted about the benefit of the Metro. However, the actor was lashed by several environmental activists as well as common people for supporting the Metro over the Aarey forest.

Over the past few months, environment activists, as well as common citizens, have put out a united show of protest, opposing the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s tree authority’s decision to chop off 27,000 trees in Mumbai’s Aarey forest for a Metro car shade. It met with wide protests all across the city and a petition signed by over 80,000 people was also submitted. The chopping of trees was halted and the court is to hear the petition on September 30.
