After a successful theatrical run, Gadar 2 is set for another successful innings on Zee Cinema with its world premiere on TV. Produced by Zee Studios and directed by Anil Sharma, the superhit sequel to the 2001 hit ‘Gadar’ will see Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprise their roles as Tara Singh, Sakeena and Charanjeet "Jeete" Singh respectively. In a recent conversation, the actress spoke about the film and the film premiering on TV.

1. How was it to reunite with Sunny Deol?
It’s always great sharing space with Sunny Deol. This time, it was like revisiting a cherished chapter from the past, with a sense of curiosity and familiarity rolled into one. It allowed me to reflect on personal growth and the evolution of our characters. I think Sunny and I are very real in our lives and that is who Tara and Sakina are. The vulnerability and the innocence still exist and that’s what I love about Sunny, he brings the best parts of you out. Seeing him after such a long hiatus only rekindled a deep connection and shared memories, making it feel like no time had passed at all!

2. Sakina has created a deep resonance in the audience - across cultures. How do you feel about that?
The film has created a fanbase across the globe. So much so that husbands wanted their wives to be Sakina and wives wanted their husbands to be Tara – as Sunny rightly said. To make Sakina who she is, I had to understand the nuances of her identity, that was key. This required sensitivity to her emotions and experiences. Conveying the deep emotional turmoil and resilience of a woman torn between love and loyalty to her family and her newfound love across cultural boundaries was a complex task. I had to dig deep to authentically depict the inner conflict and strength that Sakina embodied.

3. Gadar 2 is airing for the first time on television on Zee Cinema. How do you feel about the movie reaching a wider audience?
It’s a story that holds timeless appeal, and I believe viewers from all walks of life will connect with the powerful themes of patriotism, culture, pain, destiny, and the enduring nature of true love. It’s a great opportunity for more people to experience the magic of this film and the world it portrays. For us, the film is what it is because of audiences, and we are excited for it to reach the hoes of India through Zee Cinema.
