In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha Patel claimed that her contemporaries were "jealous" of her back-to-back successes.

Ahead of the release of Gadar 2, actress Ameesha Patel opened up about her experiences in the early years of her career in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. Patel, who became an overnight sensation after the success of Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, said that she was often called a "snob" because she was an "educated outsider" in the film industry. She also said that she faced jealousy from her contemporaries and that films were taken away from her without even being informed.

Ameesha recalled, “When I entered the film industry, I only had film actors' kids or producers' kids enter with me, it was Kareena Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Tushar Kapoor, Esha Deol, Fardeen Khan, you name it, you turn your head and it was a film family third generation person coming in. I was the outsider and I was anyway this south Bombay (girl) looked upon as a snob because I was the educated outsider. I was the one who did not b*tch on sets, I read books, I did not gossip, so I was anyway called a snob because I chose to read."

She recounted the rapid rise to fame she experienced alongside Hrithik Roshan and herself becoming national heartthrobs overnight. However, Ameesha perceived a sense of jealousy and competition among her contemporaries, resulting in them snatching away roles from her unexpectedly. This realisation came after signing films and blocking dates, only to find herself excluded from sets, with someone else replacing her months later.

Coming back to Gadar 2, helmed by Anil Sharma, the film is slated to release on August 11.
