Actor Alia Bhatt is receiving acclaim for showcasing impressive fashion statements at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. She has now revealed the source of her inspiration — none other than Aishwarya Rai.
During an interview with Brut, the actor gave a major shout-out to Aishwarya Rai, praising her for representing India on an international platform. The interview clip has since made its way onto social media, including Reddit.
Alia stated, “I believe this is the time when everyone’s glued to their phones, checking out red carpet appearances and beauty looks.”
She further added, “I, for one, have actually grown up watching Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walk the carpet in all her glory and really representing India on this global stage. It was always such a huge inspiration. So it really feels very nice, like a pinch-me moment to be here. And it's actually really lovely energy.”
Alia made a stunning debut at the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, attending as a L'Oréal ambassador. For her first appearance, she chose a light yellow embroidered gown adorned with floral motifs. On May 24, she graced the Cannes red carpet in a Gucci outfit, which many described as the brand's first-ever design inspired by the traditional Indian saree.
Fans are thoroughly appreciating how Alia expresses her admiration and respect for Aishwarya. She received widespread praise for her look, wearing a custom Manish Malhotra sari richly adorned with traditional Indian jewelry and sindoor. Marking her 22nd appearance at the festival, she chose a classic white handwoven Kadwa Banarasi sari, creatively transformed into a couture gown silhouette with a handwoven tissue drape. The ivory and gold outfit featured a long, sheer train decorated with intricate gold embroidery and sequins, flowing like a dupatta and adding a dramatic flair to her overall look.
