Alia Bhatt has extended her congratulations to the team of Boong following its major international recognition. The actress took to Instagram to share a celebratory note, applauding the cast and crew of the Manipuri-language coming-of-age drama and acknowledging the producers, including the owners of Excel Entertainment — Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.

Sharing her excitement, Alia wrote, “What a proud moment for Indian cinema +++ Congratulations to the entire team Historic #Lakshmi Priya Devi @gugun kipgen, official balahtiam @ritesh sid @faroutakhtar Gamcalexx @shujantsaudagar @vikeshbhutani @kassimjagmagia @vishalrr @chalkboardentertainment @suitablepictures Bexcelmovies @aaflims.official.” Her message highlighted filmmaker Lakshmipriya Devi and actors Gugun Kipgen and Bala Hijam among others associated with the project.

Boong, written and directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, is a 2024 Indian Manipuri-language drama that explores themes of adolescence and identity. Apart from Gugun Kipgen and Bala Hijam, the film also features Angom Sanamatum, Vikram Kochhar, Nemetia Ngangbam, Jenny Khurai and Hamom Sadananda in pivotal roles. The film premiered in the Discovery section at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2024, marking a significant milestone for regional Indian cinema. It went on to achieve further global acclaim by winning Best Children’s & Family Film at the 79th British Academy Film Awards.
Alia’s congratulatory note comes shortly after she attended the BAFTA ceremony as one of the presenters. The actress drew attention for her appearance at the prestigious awards night and used the occasion to celebrate Indian cinema’s growing global footprint.
Her association with Excel Entertainment goes back to Gully Boy, where she starred opposite Ranveer Singh in the musical drama produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The film was both a critical and commercial success and was India’s official entry to the Academy Awards that year.
Alia was also expected to reunite with Excel Entertainment for the multi-starrer Jee Le Zaraa, which was set to feature Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif. However, the project has since been shelved indefinitely.
With her latest Instagram note, Alia Bhatt has once again underscored her support for diverse storytelling and regional cinema, as Boong continues to earn accolades on the international stage.
