Opening up about this approach, Alaya recently spoke about why exploring darker shades on screen has been a deliberate and fulfilling decision for her as an actor.
Despite receiving a wide range of offers after her debut, Alaya says it was the possibility of experimentation that drew her to projects like U-Turn and Freddy. “After Jawaani Jaaneman, I received multiple film offers ranging across genres. As an actor, it’s more fun to be a part of films of varying genres, play unique characters - there are so many people who don’t get this chance. So, I jumped onto it but I am very excited about what’s coming up for me,” says Alaya.
The actor believes that embracing unconventional roles has helped her grow creatively. Instead of being driven by external expectations or industry noise, she prefers to follow instinct and passion. “Genuinely, I’ve reached a point where I’m like I love acting and I’m here to act, so I just want to act. I don’t want to get stuck in all the drama of what I should do and what I shouldn’t do. I just want to do what my heart wants to do,” she adds.
Both U-Turn and Freddy allowed Alaya to step into darker, more layered characters, offering her the opportunity to explore psychological depth and emotional complexity—territory many young actors hesitate to enter early in their careers. Her performances in these films were noted for their intensity and willingness to break away from stereotypical portrayals.
On the professional front, Alaya has been keeping busy with multiple projects lined up since 2025. While details remain under wraps, the actor hints at an exciting phase ahead, marked by variety and creative risk-taking.
As audiences increasingly warm up to performers who prioritise substance over safety, Alaya F’s choices reflect a growing confidence in her craft.
