On Tuesday, Akshay Kumar unveiled a special devotional track, ‘Mahakal Chalo’ which is expected to be the actor’s powerful tribute to Lord Shiva, ahead of Maha Shivratri on February 26. The actor insisted on retaining the raw and authentic elements of the song, while keeping it deeply devotional. Furthermore, the track blends traditional sounds with energetic beats, as it aims at resonating with listeners across generations, including Gen-Z.

Kicking off the celebrations of Maha Shivrati almost a week before, ‘Mahakal Chalo’ is the perfect anthem to rejoice the occasion. With strong visuals, the song promises to transport listeners to a realm of devotion, encouraging them to connect with and embrace their spirituality. We hear that the powerful and engaging visuals in the video is to enhance the song’s impact, so that the audience get a captivating experience. The lyrics is penned by Shekhar Astitwa along with music composed by Vikram Montrose. We hear that the duo was keen on creating an uplifting experience for everyone. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar’s look in ‘Mahakal Chalo’ was expected to be unique and different from his avatar in films as they wanted to create it in a way where he immerses himself into Mahadev’s energy to radiate strength and devotion.

It is a known fact that Akshay Kumar has often opened up about his devotion to Lord Shiva and he has even created tracks for the Almighty in the past. If you may recall, in 2024, he came out with ‘Shambhu’, a devotional track dedicated to Mahadev. Now, with ‘Mahakal Chalo’, the actor once again presents a grand fusion of music and visuals, as he expresses his unwavering devotion to Mahadev, yet again. On February 18, the track was released across musical platforms.

On the film front, Akshay Kumar is currently gearing up for the release of Kesari Chapter 2, which is based on the historical events of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, as it revolves around the life of Indian lawyer and statesman C Sankaran Nair. Also starring Ananya Panday, R Madhavan, and others, the film is slated to release in the first half of 2025.
