In the last few days there have been a couple of ‘news pieces’ floating around Akshay Kumar. One being that he would soon be doing a film where he plays PM Narendra Modi in a biopic. Secondly, his Toilet – Ek Prem Katha would be going tax-free in the states that are ruled by the BJP.
As has turned out to be the case, all of this is plain rumour and speculation with no iota of truth to it.
When we contacted Akshay Kumar’s official spokesperson, this is what she had to say, “All of this is baseless. There hasn’t been even a discussion around Akshay doing a biopic on honorable Prime Minister Modiji. We have no clue who thought of it and what led to the speculation. As for his upcoming release Toilet – Ek Prem Katha going tax-free in BJP ruled states, there hasn’t been any development on this either. Of course we would like our film to be seen by maximum number of audience, with or without the tax-free status.”
Another source close to Akshay Kumar added, “It is rather odd to see such so-called news pieces making the rounds when it is a known fact that Akshay himself announces his films on the social media. Of late, he has been doing that regularly film after film. Be it an announcement or a trailer/song release or any message that he has for his fans or any other initiative that he is working on, it is Akshay himself who either shares the details or shoots a video of his and puts it out there for all to see. Anything and everything else that you hear has to be taken with a sack (and not just a pinch) of salt.”
