After a successful career as a video jockey, Aditya Roy Kapur transitioned to Bollywood, achieving fame with Aashiqui 2. However, following the success of that movie and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, his films began to perform poorly at the box office. In a recent interview, he reflected on this period of consecutive flops, describing it as a 'vulnerable' time in his life.

During a conversation with Kareena Kapoor Khan on her chat show What Women Want, Aditya opened up about coping with these failures. He explained that while his films weren't succeeding, he was also dissatisfied with the offers he received. The actor stated, “There have been vulnerable moments, like films not working or when one hasn’t had work. A few films didn’t do well, and I didn’t like anything (that was being offered), maybe because I was vulnerable at that point in time.”
Kapur claimed that during this terrible moment in his life, he did not work as much. He stated, “It was a tough period where I wasn’t liking anything and not working for a while.” He claimed that he received support from his friends and family throughout this time. He also discussed how the conclusion of a film affected an actor after they committed a large amount of time in it.
After his role in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Kapur appeared in Dawat-e-Ishq and Fitoor, but neither film connected with audiences. He achieved success again with Ok Jaanu, but his most recent release, Gumraah, did not perform well. Additionally, he starred in Disney+ Hotstar's The Night Manager, which has recently been nominated for the International Emmys.
