Aditi Rao Hydari's portrayal of courtesan Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has garnered widespread acclaim, with her Gajagamini walk from the series capturing attention. In an interview with Zoom TV, Aditi reflected on the viral nature of her performance, shedding light on the creation process guided by Bhansali's meticulous direction.

Regarding her iconic walk, she expressed uncertainty about its classification, stating, “I want to ask somebody, Sanjay sir, my dance teacher, what is it? Is it the Gajagamini walk, the swan walk? What walk is that I don’t know! I’ll say it was what Sanjay sir asked me to do."

Aditi elaborated on Bhansali's creative input, emphasizing his attention to detail and ability to spot magic in the moment. She shared, “He is very good at spotting magic on the spot, and he created a lot of nuances in the process.” Aditi also revealed Bhansali's supportive approach, recounting his advice not to lose weight for the role despite post-Covid concerns. She recalled, “When I had put on the Ghagra, Sanjay Sir told me that I had put on weight. I asked him to give me 10 days since it was post COVID. He said, ‘No you look beautiful. Let’s shoot.' I really value that. That's why I say he is an incredible teacher.”

Heeramandi, Bhansali's debut venture in the OTT space, explores the power dynamics within the red-light district of Heera Mandi during the Indian independence movement. Aditi's character, Bibbojaan, serves as the elder daughter of Mallikajaan, portrayed by Manisha Koirala.

Despite criticism for historical inaccuracies, the series is appreciated for its star-studded cast, including Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, and Fardeen Khan. Aditi's revelation provides a glimpse into the collaborative and supportive environment fostered by Bhansali, contributing to the success of Heeramandi and her own acclaimed performance within it.
