Abhay Deol marked what would have been Dharmendra’s 90th birthday with a deeply personal remembrance, sharing a throwback photograph of himself as a child sitting beside the late actor. Dharmendra passed away in Mumbai on November 24, 2025, just weeks before his milestone birthday.
In the photo, a young Abhay is seen seated close to Dharmendra, looking slightly upset. Reflecting on the moment captured decades ago, he wrote, “Must’ve been 1985 or ‘86. I had just been scolded so I was upset. He called me to him, sat me down by his side and said, ‘look at the light’, and had the photographer click this pic.”
The actor added an emotional note, acknowledging the weight of the day. “I look forward to the moment I hear him say those words to me again, when my time comes. Today was his birthday,” he wrote, remembering his uncle with affection and longing.

Dharmendra’s family members, too, have been sharing memories to honour the legendary star. Hema Malini paid tribute to her late husband with an emotional message, expressing how deeply she has felt his absence since his passing. “Happy birthday my dear heart,” she wrote, adding that over two weeks have gone by with her “slowly gathering up the pieces and trying to reconstruct” life without him. She reflected on their years together, their daughters, and the memories that continue to offer her comfort.
“The joyful memories of our life together can never be erased,” she wrote, sharing gratitude for their journey and praying for his peace. “Happy birthday dear love,” she concluded, posting photos from their time together.
