Today, one of the favourite Bollywood stars, Aamir Khan, completes 25 years in the film industry. From his debut in the superhit film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Aamir has come a long way and has become a favourite of the masses. - Rang De Basanti was selected as India's official entry to the Oscars. Although the film was not shortlisted as a nominee for the Oscar, it received a nomination for Best Foreign Film at the BAFTA Awards in England.
- Lagaan was selected as India's official entry to the 74th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
- In a world where every big film tries to touch the Rs. 100 crore mark, Aamir Khan is the lone contender in the Rs. 200 Crore club with his iconic hit film 3 Idiots.
- In April 2006, Aamir had participated in the demonstrations put up by the 'Narmada Bachao Andolan Committee' with Medha Patkar after the Gujarat government's decision to raise the height of the Narmada dam.
- The Government of India honoured him with the 'Padma Shri' in 2003 and the 'Padma Bhushan' in 2010 for his contributions towards the arts.
