While Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan made his Bollywood debut with Maharaj last year, his daughter Ira Khan has no intentions of entering the film industry. In a recent conversation, Ira shared insights about her relationship with her brother Junaid, who is set to make his big-screen debut with Loveyapa. Junaid, who is five years older than Ira, revealed that they fought a lot until he completed school, but after that, their sibling bond strengthened, and they became very close.
In an interview with People of India, Ira Khan spoke about her evolving bond with Junaid Khan and said, “I don’t know whether this happens with all siblings but either I wanted to be exactly like him in some aspects, while in some aspects I had to be exactly the opposite. He liked Manchester United. So I had to not like Manchester United.” She added, “We fought every single day till he finished school. When he went to college, he got a life, so he stopped troubling me and then we actually became very close. So it was a very big shift but it was a fun shift.”
When asked about her relationship with her father, Aamir Khan, and her awareness of his celebrity status from childhood, Ira Khan said, “I probably didn’t fully understand it. But I have known, since I could remember, that he is a celebrity.” She also mentioned that her schoolmates were aware of her father’s fame. “I don’t think anyone judged me, but yeah, people wanted to be friends with me because they were excited about who my dad was. But I dont think anyone necessarily thought bad of me. At least not to my face.”
Ira Khan continued, “With all parents, until you’re a certain age, you don’t see them as people. You see them as your parents. And in that sense, it was the same. He would travel and be on shoot, and I lived with my mom. But he would always check if anyone in school was troubling me or if everything was fine. We played a lot of board games and we were very competitive. All three of us- Junaid, dad and me. During Covid, we spent a lot of time together.”
Ira Khan has been showing her support for her brother Junaid Khan’s upcoming film Loveyapa, co-starring Khushi Kapoor. Just yesterday, she shared a fun, goofy reel from the Loveyapa team, where Junaid, Khushi, and others are seen singing and swaying to the film’s title track. Ira was impressed by her brother’s lively and playful side and humorously teased him, writing, “Who is this and what have you done to my brother?”
