As anticipation builds for Ek Din, Aamir Khan has shared a personal story that ties closely with the film’s central theme, that one day can change the course of a lifetime.
In a video released by Aamir Khan Productions, the actor revisited a defining moment from his college days. He recalled how he was once removed from a play after missing a rehearsal due to a protest, an incident that initially felt like a major setback. However, that very day turned into an unexpected turning point when his friend Niranjan Thade, a former FTII student, along with Inderjit Bansel, approached him with an opportunity to act in their diploma film Subah Subah.
Reflecting on the larger idea, the makers wrote, “Sometimes, all it takes is one day to change your whole life,” reinforcing the film’s emotional core. What began as a disappointment eventually opened doors for Aamir, leading him to projects like Holi and ultimately his breakthrough with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

The upcoming film, starring Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan, explores a similar idea through a romantic narrative. The story follows a shy young man who falls for a lively colleague, with their relationship taking an unexpected turn after a life-altering incident.
Ek Din also marks Aamir’s reunion with filmmaker Mansoor Khan, rekindling a creative partnership that has delivered iconic films in the past. Directed by Sunil Pandey and produced by Aamir Khan, Mansoor Khan, and Aparna Purohit, the film is slated to release in theatres on May 1, 2026.
