While Andaz Apna Apna continues to remain a cult comedy even years after its release, the film did not receive such an immense response when it hit cinemas years ago. Despite an enviable star cast of 90s superstars like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles, the film failed to be a crowd-puller. Recently, as Aamir recalled the good-bad and fond memories associated with the film, he also revealed about an alleged rift between the two actresses.
Speaking at India Conclave, Aamir Khan described his shoot experience saying, “It was a lovely time that we had. I have to say it was also a tough time because I was the only actor who used to come on time. No one else came on time. No one used to come on time.” As he hesitated a bit to continue, Aamir also confessed about how Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor were not on talking terms while shooting the film. “I don't know if I should say this or not. But At that time, there was some ann-bann (rift) between Raveena and Karishma. So, when Raveena used to come, Karishma used to leave. And when Karishma used to come, Raveena used to leave. So, I used to often wonder, how would the film ever complete? We are not able to shoot together since four people were in four directions.” “However, that film was ultimately made, albeit with great difficulty. But I always believed in that film,” he asserted.
Further talking about how he was shocked with the low response that Andaz Apna Apna received upon releasing in cinemas, Khan added, “I used to find that sense of humor was wacky and mad. And I think the amazing part is that when the film released, though it had Salman and me at our peak that time, we had just come out and we were both very popular, it still didn't do well at all in the cinemas. Bilkul nahi chali. Matlab paani nahi maanga. Yeh jo muhawara hai na, paani nahi maanga. Aadmi jab marta hai, toh bolta hai paani, paani. Usne paani bhi nahi maanga.”

And then suddenly over time, I realized in home entertainment, it's become number one. I believe it's the number one home entertainment film, perhaps. Every generation has seen it.
