Actor Aamir Khan has reignited excitement for his long-cherished dream project, a grand cinematic adaptation of the Mahabharata, by hinting at his desire to portray Lord Krishna, a character he finds “deeply impactful” and inspiring. Speaking at the ABP Network’s India@2047 Summit, the actor-producer shared his cautious yet passionate approach to bringing the epic saga to life, describing it as a monumental challenge that requires careful execution.

The Mahabharata, one of India’s most revered epics, chronicles the conflict between the Pandavas and Kauravas, interwoven with profound philosophical teachings, notably through Lord Krishna’s guidance in the Bhagavad Gita. Khan has been vocal about his fascination with the epic for over a decade. At the summit, he elaborated on its personal significance, saying, “Mahabharat is a dream of mine—one I hope to bring to life, but it’s a very difficult dream. Mahabharat will never let you down, but you might let Mahabharat down. That’s why I’m treading carefully.”

When asked which character he’d love to play, Khan revealed, “The character of Krishna deeply moves me—that’s the character I truly love,” citing Krishna’s wisdom and charisma as profoundly inspiring. Aamir stated the need for extensive writing, estimating years for the scripting process alone, and stressed his fear of falling short of the epic’s grandeur. “It’s such a massive project that I don’t want to say much right now,” he told ABP Live, underscoring his cautious approach.

The timing of Khan’s comments aligns with his preparations for Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par, set for release on June 20, 2025, also starring Darsheel Safary and Genelia Deshmukh.
