Shah Rukh Khan completed 30 years in the Indian film industry on June 25. The superstar has been ruling hearts ever since his first Deewana (1992) was released exactly three decades ago. His popularity increased with each passing film. The kind of fan following he has among fans of all ages and genders is truly unique and hence, the star continues to shine even though a few of his films haven't worked well at the box office. His last film, Zero (2018), was an expensive film but it failed to even cross the Rs. 100 crore mark. But now, it seems like the tide is going to turn drastically for SRK.

After a four-year hiatus, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in three films – the spy actioner Pathaan, the mass entertainer Jawan and the feel-good fare, Dunki. Unlike some of SRK’s recent films, all these three movies sound very exciting and massy. Pathaan is directed by Siddharth Anand of War (2019) fame. It co-stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham and is a part of YRF’s spy universe. Hence, Salman Khan aka Tiger is also a part of it. Jawan, meanwhile, is directed by blockbuster South filmmaker Atlee. Dunki, lastly, is directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the filmmaker with the Midas touch.

The excitement for all these movies is skyhigh. This could be gauged by the fact that the announcement videos of all three got a roaring response. In Pathaan’s teaser, only his blurred glimpse was seen and yet, it went viral. Dunki’s announcement came suddenly, and it got thumbs up. As for Jawan’s teaser, it simply broke the internet as it showed SRK in a never-before-seen avatar. In fact, the way Jawan's teaser has been loved and generated a craze made it very clear that Shah Rukh Khan’s name is still massive.

Hence, we wonder if each of Shah Rukh Khan’s films can collect Rs. 300 crores? After all, so many factors are going in the favour of these films. Besides the fact that each one of them sounds truly exciting, what is also great is that they are spaced well. Pathaan releases first, on January 25, 2023. Jawan will be out on June 2 while Dunki arrives in cinemas on December 22. In other words, the year would start and end with the Baadshah and he’ll also be there to entertain the audiences during the interval point or in the middle of 2023!

Even the trade experts feel that the possibility is very much there that Shah Rukh Khan can give Rs. 900 crores in a year. Film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi said, “Yes it is possible, just by going by the setups that these films have. You have Siddharth Anand coming immediately after War. You have Atlee who perennially has been in phenomenal form. And you have Rajkumar Hirani who has never gone wrong till date. Shah Rukh Khan’s stardom, meanwhile, is not an overnight fad. It’s something that has been built over 30 years. It’s a true-blue real stardom! If the films work, I do not doubt that all of these could be absolute mega-scale blockbusters. I really hope that happens as there are very few stars who rake in the big money, thus benefiting the entire value chain. When a film does Rs. 300 crores, it’s not like it entirely goes into the producer’s pocket. It goes to everyone, from the exhibitor to the agents to the distributors to sub-distributors to the producers to the actors. So, if Mr Khan can do that for the industry, it’ll be absolutely incredible.”

Trade Analyst Komal Nahta stated, “I have not seen the films. I would love to believe that every film is going to be a blockbuster. And Shah Rukh Khan has delivered so many times. So, it is very possible.”

Meanwhile, Taran Adarsh remarked, “Why just Rs. 300 crores? The sky's the limit! You never know. It could be even Rs. 1000 crores. No one knows the content as of now. But I am sure that Shah Rukh is going to play this innings very smartly. He’s taken a lot of time to greenlight these projects. After Zero, he didn’t announce any film and rightly so, as he was doing introspection. He was taking time as to what kind of projects he should do. He can’t portray the same types of roles that he has portrayed in the past. The audience wants to see a different Shah Rukh Khan. I am sure that these films will be promising a lot more than the usual Shah Rukh Khan experience that we have had in the past.”

He continued, “Amitabh Bachchan at his career’s peak used to have 6-7 films releasing in a year. Each one was a money-spinner. Imagine celebrating 6-7 silver jubilees in a year! So, the market has the capacity. Hence, why not give them some good films?”

Taran Adarsh also said, “If you ask me, Shah Rukh shouldn’t have taken a four-year break. But then, he knows better. He was taking his time and one should appreciate and respect them.”

Shah Rukh Khan faced a tough time not just due to multiple flops but also because his son Aryan Khan had to fight a legal battle and spend nearly a month in jail. But now it seems fortune will smile upon him, provided the content of these films click big time. The possible success of Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki will be much deserving for the superstar for all that he went through. Here’s hoping on his 30th anniversary that Shah Rukh Khan jumps back to the numero uno position!
