Rakesh Roshan recalled how it was the late Yash Chopra’s idea to include an important part in the climax of the film.

On the occasion of 20 years of Koi...Mil Gaya, the film has been re-released in PVR INOX cinemas across 30 cities in India. Rakesh Roshan's Koi...Mil Gaya, which released in 2003, is India's first Sci-fi film featuring an alien. The Sci-fi musical and India's first superhero film Krrish franchise also stands to be the first multi-genre story franchise that carries forward characters and storyline from its preceding parts. The film and its installments received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. Hrithik Roshan, who was starring in the lead role, was joined by Preity Zinta. In a recent conversation, Rakesh Roshan recalled how it was the late Yash Chopra’s idea to include an important part in the climax of the film.

Koi… Mil Gaya follows the story of Rohit Mehra (Hrithik Roshan), a young man who happened to suffer an accident while in his mother’s womb. He is a young man with a developmental disability who lives with his mother Sonia (Rekha) and is still in school. His life undergoes a huge change when he accidentally comes across an alien named Jadoo, who grants him powers. During the climax of the movie, due to unforeseen circumstances, Rohit has to let Jadoo leave earth and return to his planet. He contacts the spaceship which left Jadoo here. However, as the alien returns, so does the powers that it had given to Rohit. However, after a few months, Rohit realizes that the powers have been restored by Jadoo.

During a recent conversation, commemorating the movie’s 20th anniversary, Rakesh Roshan said that he had shown the movie to Yash Chopra and it was the late filmmaker’s idea that Rohit’s powers should vanish along with Jadoo’s exit from the planet. He revealed, “Yash (Chopra) uncle was in favour of the ending where he (Jadoo) takes away his powers and leaves. On the other hand, Adi (Aditya Chopra) had the conviction that the powers have come to him (Rohit), so he suggested that I keep the same ending.”

Directed by Rakesh Roshan, Koi... Mil Gaya is produced by Rakesh Roshan's FilmKraft Production. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Rekha alongside Johny Lever, Rajat Bedi, Prem Chopra and child artists Hansika Motwani, Anuj Pandit Sharma in pivotal roles.
