12th Fail filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra receives ‘Raj Kapoor Special Contribution’ award 12 : Bollywood News

Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who is best known recently for 12th Fail starring Vikrant Massey, recently received the prestigious ‘Raj Kapoor Special contribution award -’ by Maharashtra Government’s Cultural Division at the Maharashtra Bhushan Awards for his outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema during the weekend.

Overwhelmed with the honour Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, "My janmabhoomi was Kashmir and my Karmabhoomi is Maharashtra. This cultural amalgamation of Kashmir and Maharashtra is who I am today. This award means a lot to me as it is coming from the government of Maharashtra. Maharashtra is my land where I belong, where I work and where I want to die! Thank you very much the government of Maharashtra for honouring me."

Along with the heartfelt speech, the official social media handle of his production house Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films also shared photos and videos from the ceremony. The photos were captioned saying, “Celebrating Excellence in Cinema, Vidhu Vinod Chopra was awarded the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award - 2022 by Maharashtra’s Cultural Division marking a triumphant moment in the realm of filmmaking and storytelling.” Further adding to it was the video which clearly captioned the moment of the producer-director being felicitated on stage. “Celebrating the cinema of Vidhu Vinod Chopra, from Sazaye Maut to 12th Fail - the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award is a recognition of his years in filmmaking,” its caption read.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who is known for directing films like Parinda, 1942 A Love Story, Mission Kashmir, among others and producing films like Munnabhai MBBS and its sequel Lage Raho Munnabhai, 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju, among others, recently turned director and producer for the biographical drama12th Fail, based on the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. The film went on to receive immense critical acclaim and also won awards at the recently held Filmfare 2024.
