10 years of Go Goa Gone: Kunal Kemmu calls it his “Andaz Apna Apna”; opens up about the bittersweet release week

en Bollywood News 10 years of Go Goa Gone: Kunal Kemmu calls it his “Andaz Apna Apna”; opens up about the bittersweet release week

Go Goa Gone, released on May 10, 2013, was the first-of-its-kind film, which gained a loyal following over the decade.

Go Goa Gone, the 2013 zombie comedy film directed by Raj and DK, recently celebrated its ten-year anniversary since its release. The film stars Kunal Kemmu, Vir Das, Anand Tiwari and Puja Gupta in lead roles along with Saif Ali Khan in a cameo role. It marked the first-ever zombie comedy in Bollywood. As the film turned ten on Wednesday, May 10, Kunal called it his Andaz Apna Apna while talking about its performance at the box office.

While talking to Indian Express, Kemmu asserted, “I can’t even believe it’s already been 10 years. You feel blessed, especially with Go Goa Gone because it started as these three people in a room where Raj DK and I just wanted to do something so out of the box that we knew we would have no takers for. Coming from that place to here! People forget films, they come and go.”

He further explained, “But rarely do you come across films where, after 10 years, people want to see another part, they are talking about it, they have so much love for it, and they talk about sequences and dialogues. For me, Andaz Apna Apna was that film. I feel in whatever small way, this might be my Andaz Apna Apna.”

As the conversation progressed further, the portal asked the actor to describe the week when Go Goa Gone was released. He said, “It was bittersweet because there is a different side to the business of it. We never had the notion that this was going to be the next blockbuster, it was supposed to be a small-budget film that would be experimental in a way and would find its audience.”

He continued that the film was profitable at the box office, but there was a miscommunication that the film should become the next Cocktail which it wasn't. This eventually became bittersweet for the team as the box office didn't meet the expectations, however, the film gained a cult following over the years. The film was about three boys and Saif Ali Khan played the character of Boris, it wasn't a Saif Ali Khan-driven film.
