Will Jr. B & Jr. Sippy spell magic with ‘Kuch Naa Kaho’?:

Ramesh Sippy has directed some of the most memorable movies. Now, Ramesh Sippy’s son Rohan is all set to make his directorial debut with KUCH NAA KAHO, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. The film has taken over two years to make, but Rohan attributes the delay to various factors. In the first place, the film was never meant to be a quickie. Both the stars have busy schedules and to procure combination dates wasn’t an easy task, Rohan states. However, Rohan is not worried that the cold response to the pair’s DHAAI AKSHAR PREM KE would have any negative impact on his film. It all depends from film to film. Didn’t JAWANI ZINDABAD fail to fetch an opening at the box-office, though it was released soon after DIL? [both DIL and JAWANI ZINDABAD featured Aamir in the lead]. I’m confident of my film and I am certain it will strike a chord with the audience. Rohan also quashes reports that he signed Bachchan Jr. for the film due to the close association the Sippys have shared with the Bachchans. I signed Abhishek because he suits the role to the T. It’s a fact that Abhishek and I’ve known each other since the time we were kids, but that wasn’t the reason for signing him for the film. Incidentally, Abhishek will have a string of releases this year, starting with MUMBAI SE AAYA MERA DOST [dir.: Apoorva Lakhia], KUCH NAA KAHO, MAIN PREM KI DIWANI HOON [dir.: Sooraj R. Barjatya], L.O.C. [dir.: J.P. Dutta], ZAMEEN [dir.: Rohit Shetty] and RUN [dir.: Jeeva]. It’s an important year for Abhishek and I’m sure, he’ll bounce back with a bang, Rohan smiles. However, the first three Abhishek starrers will be released in quick succession, but Rohan isn’t worried. That cannot be helped. You cannot really hold your film once it’s complete. The bottomline is strong content and if the film has the merits to make a mark, no opposition can ever make a dent in its business. KUCH NAA KAHO also stars Arbaaz Khan in a small, but significant role the role was to be essayed by Salman Khan earlier. We made a few changes in the script once Arbaaz stepped in, Rohan admits. On the personal front, Sippy Jr. admits that, at times, there were differences of opinion with his famous father while making the film. There were creative differences, but all for the betterment of the film. I’d be a fool to not take his advice, Rohan laughs. KUCH NAA KAHO has music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The film is slated for release in June.
