This writer was the first to break the news that Saawan Kumar was planning to start a love story, titled AUR KITNE PAKISTAN. However, as soon as the news got splashed in dailies and weeklies, it led to a furore, with a few politicians demanding that the title be changed to avoid unnecessary controversies. But a week ago, speculation was rife that Saawan had decided to abandon the project for certain reasons. Saawan was unruffled when we asked him to verify the news. I have changed the title of the film, not dropped the project. But the change of title has nothing to do with I. & B. Minister Sushma Swaraj pressurising me to do so, as is being speculated. In fact, when I met her recently, she loved the subject of the film, Saawan clarifies. Besides a new title the film is now titled DIL PARDESI HO GAYA Saawan has also decided to bring about one more change in the project. Instead of chasing established stars to sign on the dotted line, Ive decided to cast two newcomers for the project one boy, one girl, he states. So lets see whom Saawan casts eventually. DIL PARDESI HO GAYA tells the story of an Indian boy falling in love with a Pakistani girl.
