At a press conference, in promotion of the anti-cracker campaign launched by the UP police, Vivek Oberoi urged Lucknowites to stop bursting firecrackers in Diwali. Bringing into light the exploitative child labor involved in the manufacture of crackers, he also explained how small children were exposed to innumerable health hazards in the process. Stating the fact that crackers worth over Rs 3,000 crore were blown up each year, he suggested that it would be a much better idea if this money could be used to light lamps in the homes of these poor kids. Indeed a noble thought!
