UTV has announced ten films, with many of the best-known stars and directors. UTV's line-up includes (a) A joint production with Ramgopal Varma that starts rolling this summer, for release during the end of the year holidays (b) Prakash Jha - starting in early 2005 (c) A to-be-announced project with David Dhawan (d) A two-movie deal with Vishal Bharadwaj (e) Aatish Kapadia (f) Chandan Arora (g) Aparna Sen (h) Tigmanshu Dhulia's Dharti and (i) Somnath Sen's Amitabh - Madhuri starrer. UTV's co-production JV with Star TV Group starts in 2004 with four of the above projects. UTV has also announced setting up of an all India national distribution network for simultaneous release across India, for which it will set up infrastructure in seven cities [where the UTV Group already has offices]. Internationally, they have established bases in New York for North America and in London for all of Europe. The balance of worldwide activity shall be serviced from their Indian headquarters. Sridhar Sreekakula heads up the North American distribution and development activities, while Sanjeev Mehta, having recently been at Kodak and Reliance, will head the India distribution network. Overall investment will be in the range of Rs. 100 crores [U.S. $ 25 million] for almost all activities, which will be funded partly through the considerable revenues to be generated from LAKSHYA and SWADES, in addition to the Star TV co-production plans.
