After Sahara, it's UTV going into multiple production ventures. UTV will announce 10 films at the Cannes Film Festival to be directed by top-notch directors of Bollywood. The films include Ram Gopal Varma's D, Somnath Sen's film starring Big B and Madhuri Dixit, Nagesh Kukunoor's Hyderabad Blues 2, Tigmanshu Dhulia's Dharti and Prakash Jha's next. Other big directors on the UTV list include David Dhawan, Aparna Sen, Vishal Bharadwaj and Chandan Arora. According to Ronnie Screwvala of UTV, their movie studio model will facilitate Bollywood akin to how Miramax or Fox Searchlight studios aid Hollywood. It would serve as a strong support system to Bollywood whereby directors would be more involved in the creative process while production, marketing and distribution hassles will be handled by the studio. Also the year's two biggest films Farhan Akhtar's Lakshya and Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades will be co-produced by UTV.
