Tusshar Kapoor's once-mellow good-boy image seems to be going for a toss. Those close to him say he has been acting openly belligerent of late. The incident that happened on Sunday evening in full public view at a shopping mall in Bhandup in suburban Mumbai between the Kapoon scion and director Sagar Ballary shocked everyone who was there.
Apparently, Tusshar was heard screaming loudly at Ballary. The director not known to take kindly to any high-handed behaviour from his team, shouted right back. The altercation during the shooting of Hum Tum Aur Shabana soon turned into a full-blooded pow-wow, with Tusshar's co-stars Minissha Lamba and Shreyas Talpade watching in muted embarrassment.
Says an eyewitness from the team, "It got really ugly between Tusshar and Sagar. Tusshar looked edgy and tensed all day. The minute Sagar mentioned that the shooting had to be extended Tusshar lost his cool. He began shouting and gesticulating aggressively at Sagar who seemed as taken aback as we were. Sagar gave back as good as he got. We finally had to rush to separate them."
To our surprise neither Tusshar nor Sagar denied the Sunday evening incident.
When asked about the incident Tusshar said, "It was unfortunate. On Sunday when we were shooting in a mall, he told me the shooting would be extended by another night. I had been working round the clock with practically no sleep, so I lost my cool. I now realize that Sagar was only doing his job. He's a perfectionist. I realized my mistake and apologized to him. We're friends again."
When quizzed about the incident Sagar Ballary did a deeper probe on Tusshar's personality, "For too long, Tusshar has been taken for granted. People see him as a docile non-aggressive person. They don't realize there's another side to him which he keeps out of view for the sake of decency. I'm glad he's finally asserting himself even if it was me at the receiving end."
Speaking about the incident at the mall, Sagar says, "We were shooting this complicated horror-comic climax with lots of props that had been set up inside a mall. None of us had slept for five nights. Night shoots are always tough since actors don't get any sleep in the day-time because of their phones. It was especially hard on Tusshar who had been working round the clock. I had to extend the shooting by one more night. If I didn't I'd have to recreate the ambience in the mall for one more night, which would be time-consuming and costly. When I broke the news, Tusshar lost his temper. When you're working hard these things happen."
