At an event held at The Grand Maratha on Dec. 9, the book 'The Making Of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' was released by the entire star cast of the film, director Karan Johar, producer Yash Johar and author Niranjan Iyengar.
Commenting on the release of the book, Karan Johar said, "The idea of the book was conceived when I was still at the writing board and therefore, it has covered all stages of the film's production. If this film turns out to be of some consequence, then this book will be its most treasurable item and tangible evidence of what the audiences have enjoyed."
'The Making Of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' traces the film from its inception to its deliverance, with personalised messages from the star cast. The book captures the team spirit of the film unit as it worked in tandem with the director, featuring original notes from the film-maker's diary, anecdotes from the principle photography, dummy sketches created by the art director and candid moments between the cast and the crew. This has been complemented by stunning and exclusive photographs taken by Ayesha Monani.
Speaking on the book, author Niranjan Iyengar said, "There are lots of candid moments and behind-the-camera shots that have been captured like the time when Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan arrived together on the sets for their first shot after an interval of 18 years. Or Amitabh's gamut of moods edgy, happy and sullen. Instances like the reaction of the production team watching the trailer for the first time or of Kareena working side by side with her idol Kajol."
The book, printed in Singapore, is published by Dharma Productions and India Book House P. Ltd. The book will be available in stores on December 14, 2001.
