Tanuja Chandra to direct Ash

en Bollywood News Tanuja Chandra to direct Ash

After working with Kajol [DUSHMAN] and Preity Zinta [SANGHURSH], director Tanuja Chandra is all set to work with Aishwarya Rai. It's based on a true story, Tanuja divulges the essence of the film, It's about a girl who did extra-ordinary things at the Gujarat border during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. It's based on a rural theme. However, Tanuja is quick to clarify that the film will not abound in Pak-bashing or jingoism. It's essentially an anti-war film, she states. So how did the idea originate? In my earlier films, I've come up with the story idea myself. But this time it's different. The producers of the film [T. Subbarami Reddy's Gayatri Telesoft] have the rights to the story and when they narrated the story to me, I got hooked instantaneously, she admits. Tanuja has already had several meetings with Aishwarya Rai, who has agreed to do the film. But the film won't start in the immediate future, she adds, Ash's various commitments as well as the scripting of the film will take some time. The film, not titled as yet, is expected to roll by the end of the year. What about the male lead? Has Tanuja finalised anyone yet? It's a soldier's role. I am considering a couple of names currently. But we'll arrive at a decision once the script is complete, she discloses.
