Sunny Deol has turned a new leaf. He's never been in the news for arriving late on the sets or hassling producers to hike his fees suddenly, which one keeps hearing otherwise, but this one incident does indicate that the actor is getting more and more professional.
The invite to the launch of Padmalaya's DHOOL at Hotel J.W. Marriott, Juhu said that the mahurat ceremony will be performed at 7.30 p.m. sharp. It's a known fact that mahurat ceremonies never take place on time and guests actually start arriving after an hour of the scheduled time - in this case, the party would've gathered momentum only after 8.30 p.m.
But, believe it or not, Sunny was all ready to reach the venue at 7.15 p.m., but the producer [G.A. Seshagiri Rao] told him not to, since not a single guest had turned up at the party. This is quite rare - of a producer requesting his hero not to reach on the scheduled time - since a majority of times it is the producer who waits impatiently for the star to arrive on the dot.
Sunny was actually waiting at his home till 8.30 p.m., with make up and get-up et al, and only when I told him that the time was right to enter the party, after the press as well as the guests had arrived, did he reach the venue in exactly five minutes, a visibly pleased Seshagiri Rao informs me.
Incidentally, DHOOL is a remake of a Tamil blockbuster and will star two heroines - Sameera Reddy and Bhumika Chawla. In fact, it's the first time that Guddu Dhanoa is attempting a remake. We will be making slight changes in the script to suit the North tastes. But the core subject will remain the same, the director divulges.
