Suniel Shetty has turned a new leaf. No, he's not trying to be a better human [which he is anyways!], but he is seriously looking at a change of image, by portraying a wide variety of roles.
I need a break, I am tired of doing the same action stuff, Shetty tells me. And going by the actor's varied roles in his recent films, it is evident that the actor is seriously looking at shedding his 'action hero' image. If he portrayed the conventional villain in RUDRAKSH and MAIN HOON NA, he's enacted a supporting role in the just-released LAKEER. In his next release, AAN, Shetty portrays the role of an encounter specialist.
In fact, Shetty even went to the extent of requesting AAN producer Firoz A. Nadiadwala to avoid filming any songs on him. It would look ridiculous if an encounter specialist suddenly breaks into a song, he reasons, adding in the same breath, AAN has proved to be a satisfying experience. I really enjoyed doing the film.
Director Madhur Bhandarkar doesn't stop praising Shetty either. He's brilliant in the film. Undoubtedly, this is amongst his premium performances.
Meanwhile, Shetty is all set to take the big leap. He's looking West.
Trustworthy sources inform us that the actor has been approached for an international project. His get-up and performances in the recent MAIN HOON NA and RUDRAKSH earlier have attracted the attention of a known name from the West. Though it's a bit too early to talk about it, there are chances that Shetty may work in a celebrated director's forthcoming project that's aimed at the global audience.
