Pahlaj Nihalani is appalled by reports in section of the media that Kabir Khan's eagerly awaited Eid release Bajrangi Bhaijaan was viewed by two specially-selected Muslim panel members in the Censor Board, and that the film was scrutinized for inflammatory remarks against the two main religions in India.
Says Nihalani, "No such thing happened. We do not pick members in the Censor Board on the basis of their religion. As far as viewing Bajrangi Bhaijaan for communal misrepresentation is concerned, there was absolutely no need to do so. The film does not sow communal discord. On the contrary, it is about peace, friendship and amity between communities and countries."
Nihalani advises the media to restrain itself from putting out stories on censorship with a communal slant.
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan sailed through the censoring process without a hitch. There was no argument over a single shot. Stories of discord are being concocted to make the product appear controversial. We at the Censor Board want to make it clear we had no problems with the film," says the Censor chief.
