Sowmya Raoh turns vice-principal of music school

Sonu Nigam created waves throughout lovers of good music by his rendition of the title track of Kal Ho Naa Ho composed by musicians Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. But director Nikhil Advani was not happy with Sonu’s rendition when the song was first recorded. He felt that the song lacked that extra punch and wanted to re-record it. But fearing the seniority of Sonu Nigam he couldn’t directly confront him and approached producer Karan Johar with his discontent. Karan instantly gave an affirmative nod for re-recording of the song for his director’s satisfaction.

But since Nigam was not available for a re-record as he was abroad for a show, Karan thought of approaching Udit Narayan for the song. Music director Shankar Mahadevan even recorded some the opening verse for the track in his own voice. But Nikhil still had faith in Sonu’s vocals and waited for his date that came in after 2 months. Finally Sonu re-crooned the track and got it perfect this time around to everybody’s approval. The rest, as you know, is history!

Moreover this time the track turned out to be Nikhil’s favorite number on the entire Kal Ho Naa Ho album.
