Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Sucker Punch have released a new exclusive Playstation3 title, inFamous, a single player, open-world action-adventure game. The game puts the player in the shoes of Cole, an everyday misfit and urban explorer, who finds - in the aftermath of a huge explosion that destroys his hometown of Empire City - that he can muster and control surges of electricity. As Cole, players must first learn to use their powers - and then decide how they would apply them to this bleak new world. After the explosion, Empire City falls into a chaos, with a plague affecting many of the survivors and the government quarantining the area. In the middle of this chaos, Cole must battle hordes of foes using his new powers and the wall-climbing agility he developed as an urban explorer. Each area of the city is under the control of a different group - all with their own fighting skills and tactics. Aided by his friend Zeke and his ex-girlfriend Trish, Cole must take them all. The game even has a Karma system that monitors moment-to-moment actions, allowing you to see how Cole is perceived by the people of Empire City. Starting in a neutral position, performing good deeds will elevate Cole to the ranks of Guardian, Champion or Hero. Performing unkind acts, however, will see his ranking slip to Thug, Outlaw or Infamous. Cole discovers the direct consequences of his actions at over 15 pivotal points in the story, when he's forced to make a difficult moral choice and deal with the results.
