UTV and Shekhar Kapur collaborate on a unique documentary that will be a definitive chronicle of Hindi cinema, to be showcased at Cannes 2011 called Bollywood - The Greatest Love Story Ever Told. This documentary is being done on the special invitation of Cannes Festival director, Thierry FREMAUX, an ardent supporter of Indian cinema.
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Jeff Zimbalist, American Documentary Filmmaker and jointly produced by UTV and Shekhar Kapur, this is an entertaining, fun and nostalgic look at Indian Cinema will embody the most memorable moments in the history of Indian Musical Films.
Shekhar Kapur and Rakeysh Mehra’s Bollywood documentary at CannesWhile Indian films in the past have made a sporadic appearance at the Cannes Film Festivals, it was really in 2002 with the special screening of Devdas that Bollywood took Cannes by storm. Since then, the representation of Indian films has grown by leaps and bounds. An increasing number of Indian films are being showcased across various categories, larger contingents of business delegates are making their presence felt, and several Indians have been invited onto the Cannes Jury Panel, the most recent of whom was Shekhar Kapur.
This 81 minute film is a part of the official selection for the 'out of competition' section.
